Shiatsu is a Japanese pressure point massage, based on ancient Eastern medicine. Central to it is the concept of \u201cChi\u201d - the vital life energy - flowing through the body via meridians. A disturbance in this energy flow can cause physical or mental complaints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pressure is applied to specific meridian points with thumbs, fingers, palms and sometimes elbows, knees or feet. This releases blockages and rebalances the body. Shiatsu relieves headaches, neck, back and shoulder complaints, reduces stress, promotes digestion, harmonises the nervous system and increases vitality, among other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The massage is usually done on a futon on the floor, but can also be done on a massage table. You keep your clothes on, so preferably wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes such as sweatpants and T-shirts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
